Fast Food vs Healthy Food

Comes as no surprise that fast food beats out healthy food these days.  But what happened in 2012 that made fast food jump up so high?  Perhaps people are keeping a closer eye on the fast food industry.  I fear not.

Also, is there a correlation between the stability that healthy food brings to one's life and the stability in it's search trends?

What do you think?  What do you see in this comparison?

  1. I see economic instability. As income declines people become more and more reliant on the convenient affordability of fast food.

    1. Are you referring to the spike in 2012? I don't believe that the spike in fast food indicates that fast food sales increased by that much, only that more people are searching for fast food. 2012 was the year Obama was reelected in the USA and Michelle Obama is pushing for more healthy food, perhaps that spike has something to do with her campaign.

However, I do agree with you that reason why fast food is trumping healthy food in general is because of low income.

  2. Maybe the preference in fast food is about convenience rather than food?
